Are PVC Shutters Heavy?

In comparison, commonly used wood materials like Basswood (0.37-0.51 g/cm³) and Poplar (0.35-0.49 g/cm³) and for traditional wooden shutters have similar or slightly lower densities. While PVC material is marginally heavier than wood, it remains lightweight and offers the advantage of durability and resistance.

Do PVC Shutters Turn Yellow Over Time?

PVC shutters can resist yellowing over time due to two main factors: the base material composition and the quality of surface paint.

  • Base Material: A key component in ensuring adequate UV resistance in the base material of PVC shutters is the inclusion of a sufficient amount of titanium dioxide. This additive plays a crucial role in preventing yellowing. This is primarily due to the effects of UV rays and natural elements. However, high-quality paints can provide greater stability to the surface of the shutters, slowing down the fading process significantly.
